How Myron Got Into the Business
I always loved cars. That’s one of my weaknesses. I don’t drink, I’m a homebody. I love cars, but that’s not what got me in the business. I was originally a school teacher.
From there, I evolved and I was a technical writer. Then I got into marketing with Texaco. I worked with Texaco for 10 years and once I got in the market, and I found what I liked, I enjoyed it, I liked the competition.
I liked selling stores or selling- selling products and it became my love. But I also found that it wasn’t so much working for a large corporation, I found it very difficult. The happiest people weren’t corporate people, they were entrepreneurs of their own stores, able to make decisions and I always wanted to buy my own business.
So I got an opportunity – many opportunities I had over the years and I always backed out at the last moment. My wife sort of pushed me over the threshold. She said, “Myron,” she says, “I know you’ll do well, I encourage you to do it,” but she said, “if you don’t do it, do me one favor.” I said, “what’s that?” She said, “quit talking about it.”
So that drove me to making a final decision.
