Virginia Tire & Auto Announces Leadership Changes
Washington Business Journal
Fairfax-based Virginia Tire & Auto has changed up its leadership structure, starting with the husband and wife team leading the automotive maintenance company.
Current CEO Mike Holmes and President Julie Holmes will now share the title of co-CEO, according to a release. The two have been with Virginia Tire & Auto for 12 and 9 years, respectively. Myron and Carole, Julie’s parents, founded the company in 1976.
“We chose to refine our titles to better reflect our day-to-day roles and true partnership in the company,” Julie Holmes said in a statement. “I will continue to focus on employee and program development, marketing and communications, and corporate governance. Mike will continue directing company strategy, technology integration, real estate and finance.”
Virginia Tire & Auto opened two new stores this year in Vienna and Richmond and plans to open two more this fall in Herndon and Tysons. The company will have 17 locations across the commonwealth after the latest openings.
Previous General Manager Ben Wilson has been promoted to chief operating officer, a new position in the company. Mike Holmes said Virginia Tire & Auto’s recent growth created the need for a COO.
Wilson previously served as store manager for the Springfield and Bristow locations and most recently became a general manager, overseeing 10 stores and companywide retail operations.
The Washington Business Journal honored the company as one of its inaugural Family-owned Business Award winners in 2016.

FAIRFAX, Va. — Virginia Tire & Auto has named Mike and Juile Holmes co-CEOs and promoted Ben Wilson to chief operating officer.
Mr. Holmes said the company’s recent growth — they have opened two stores this year and plan for two more this fall — created the need for a COO position, and Mr. Wilson, who previously was general manager, overseeing 10 stores and companywide retail operations, was a perfect fit.
“Ben’s promotion recognizes the enormous contributions he has made to Virginia Tire & Auto over the past few years and reflects the work he has already been performing by leading major company initiatives,” Mr. Holmes said. “Ben is a vital part of the day-to-day operations of our company.”
Mr. Wilson started his career at Virginia Tire in 2013 as a call-center associate and worked his way up through the organization. After working in the call center, he moved on to create and manage internal distribution and logistics for Virginia Tire. Over the next few years, Mr. Wilson was store manager at the Springfield and Bristow, Va., locations and, most recently, general manager.
“I’m grateful for the opportunities I’ve had with Virginia Tire & Auto thus far,” Mr. Wilson said, “and I am excited to use my experience to lead business operations during such an important time for our company.”
