VTA University

A customized learning platform to meet our associates’ individual development needs

Every employee at Virginia Tire & Auto has unique goals, which means that each employee deserves a customized, individual way to achieve those goals that suits their schedules and learning styles. That’s why we developed VTA University.

VTA University was created to provide continued education for our employees without relying on any parts manufacturer or brand to develop course content. This grants our employees access to the most current, reliable information out there, without being distracted by content from manufacturers or brands.

No matter their role within Virginia Tire & Auto, our employees are all encouraged to participate in VTA University. Our hands-on curriculum covers the gambit, from sales and communication to technical inspections and personal finance. With no course requirements, schedule or timeline, our employees are able to plan their own course of study to fit their needs, goals and career paths at Virginia Tire & Auto.  

These courses are offered online as well as in classrooms and bays to make it easy for employees to learn on their own terms, with access to all the tools they need to succeed.

VTA University is always open and ongoing to keep our employees up to date with the latest industry practices and news. We’re always refreshing our skills to stay on top of our game for our customers.

Virginia Tire & Auto Apprentice Program

A paid, year-long learning experience to train the next generation of ASE Certified Technicians

In the fall of 2014, we noticed a need for Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) Certified Technicians that shared our values and put customer satisfaction first. We also noticed that many of our employees showed the desire and ambition to have successful careers in the auto repair industry. We decided to harness the promise of our own employees to meet our needs by creating the Virginia Tire & Auto Apprentice Program.

Those enrolled in the program learn in classroom settings and bays and train alongside an ASE Master Technician who acts as a mentor throughout the year-long process. By providing guides and study tools, we prepare our Apprentices to take their exams and earn their own ASE certifications.

Earning and maintaining ASE certification is a challenging task that we believe is worth the effort. The level of experience required to pass an ASE exam and retain certification makes our technicians among the top-tier of their peers.

As the program has grown and evolved over the years, many former apprentices have volunteered to be mentors themselves, passing their knowledge on to the next generation of ASE Certified Technicians.

Virginia Tire & Auto Internship Program with Fairfax County Public Schools

More than a job, auto repair is a career with opportunities to grow and develop

We love sharing our knowledge with the next generation, which is why we established our internship program with Fairfax County Public Schools in 2015. Our six-week program provides a unique learning experience for high school students by introducing them to the auto repair industry and the many careers it has to offer.

We prioritize hands-on learning to teach students about our day-to-day activities, from repairing vehicles and ordering parts to navigating customer relationships and managing workflow. Our professional work environment provides students with opportunities to learn and get started on a path towards a rewarding career. At the end of each session, we hire many of our interns into part-time positions to encourage their passion, future learning and exploration.
