Tire Rotation

Consistent tire rotations preserve your tires’ tread depth for as long as possible, giving you better gas mileage, improved performance and safety, and a longer lifespan for your tires.

During a tire rotation, technicians remove each wheel and place it in a different location on your vehicle. The tire rotation pattern they use will guarantee your tires get the refresh they need to stay in their best condition.

A Tire Rotation service includes:

  • Removing the wheels
  • Inspecting the tire tread and wear patterns
  • Completing a tire rotation following the correct rotation pattern
  • Visual brake inspection
  • Re-mounting the wheels
  • Resetting the Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS), as needed
  • Tire pressure adjustment
  • Courtesy vehicle inspection

Coming in for regular tire rotations every ~5,000 miles is one of the easiest ways to make your tires last longer! Tire rotations help maintain even treadwear, which improves tire life, performance and safety.

Many drivers choose to get their oil change and tire rotation completed together. Both services are typically needed around the same time, and it will save you a trip to the shop! Join the MyCar Club for free lifetime tire rotations.

Is tire rotation necessary?

Without tire rotations, your tire tread will wear unevenly due to weight distribution, steering pressure and driving habits. This causes your tires to wear out faster, so you’ll have to replace your tires earlier than expected.

Uneven treadwear can also cause shaking while driving and, in extreme cases, make stopping distances unpredictable, putting you and your passengers in danger out on the road.

Additionally, most tire manufacturers require routine tire rotations to maintain the tires’ treadwear warranty. So the cost of tire rotations is low when you compare it to paying for new tires!

How often should you rotate your tires?

The Tire Industry Association recommends that you get a tire rotation every 5,000–7,000 miles. If your tires develop irregular treadwear—like damage from hitting a pothole or curb—or you feel like something’s off, you should have them rotated even sooner.

Save a trip to the shop when you get your oil changed and tires rotated at the same time! These services are typically due at the same time.

How long does a tire rotation take?

As a standalone service, a tire rotation generally takes a technician 10-15 minutes to complete.
